Based in Singapore, Uma Shankar Kumar is Head of Fintech at North Ridge Partners, where he leads the firm’s fintech advisory practice. He has over 16 years of investment banking experience advising fintech companies and financial institutions across Asia Pacific. He has advised on over 50 M&A, capital raising and private credit transactions, with aggregate transaction value exceeding US$40 billion.

Prior to joining North Ridge Partners, Uma Shankar held senior roles at J.P. Morgan and Peak Bridges Capital. At J.P. Morgan, he led the fintech investment banking franchise for Asia ex-China. Most recently, he was Director at Peak Bridges Capital, where he led the firm’s Southeast Asia strategic advisory practice.

Uma Shankar has worked closely with founders, management teams, financial sponsors and strategic investors across multiple stages of growth, supporting companies on fundraising, strategic partnerships, M&A and cross-border expansion. His sector experience spans payments & financial infrastructure, digital banking & lending, BNPL & consumer finance, insurtech, wealthtech, and broader financial institutions including banking, insurance and asset management. At North Ridge Partners, he advises fintech clients on strategic M&A, growth capital and partnership opportunities across the region. 

Uma Shankar holds an MBA from Management Development Institute, Gurgaon and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics (Hons.) from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi. Outside of work, he is an avid traveller who enjoys spending time with family and playing badminton.
